Subject: Re: SIERRA LEONE - LITTLE BROTHER from "The Economist"

It is still unclear why the RUF never agreed to hold peace talks with the NPRC until now. If it is true (as speculated) that it is because of Big sister's involvment that we are now having peace, why wasn't Bio (at first third and later second in command) able to convince the RUF to negotiate peace with the NPRC earlier? Were there people that needed eleminating first or wasn't Big sister involved then? When was Big Sister abducted anyway?

I find it difficult to believe that this war could have been ended long ago and with such ease. Why all those artrocities? Our loved one's have been killed, maimed or displaced (there was no way we could save them) during this sensless war only for it to be ended because of familial ties. Couldn't this have happened earlier? So what if LITTLE BROTHER did not take over the reins? The murder of innocent civilians, looting of their property and the destruction of not-very-easy-to-replace public property could still be going on? This is sheer callousness!

Any way I am extremely happy that the war is coming to an end by whatever means. While we are looking forward to this let us give Richie's questions some careful thoughts. In particular let the NPRC provide its own version so we can stop speculating. For if present rumours on circumstances that are bringing the war to an end are concrete, we would laugh in pain.

PEACE AT LAST, WE PRAY.
